77.1% of Salvadorans surveyed think the gov’t should ‘stop spending public money’ on Bitcoin

In a recent study published by José Simeón Cañas University of Central America in El Salvador, 77.1% of respondents said they wanted the Salvadoran government to stop “spending public money on bitcoin.”

The government of the country regularly purchases Bitcoin with taxpayers’ money. In addition, 65.5% of respondents said that the adoption of Bitcoin as legal tender in El Salvador was a “failure.”

Moreover, only 24.4% of respondents said they have used Bitcoin (BTC) as a payment method since the country’s government recognized it as legal currency last year. Residents for their opinions in Legislative Decree No. 57,

Bitcoin was recognized as legal currency in El Salvador on September 7, 2021. A total of 1,269 valid interviews were collected as of September 2022, with an error of 2.75% in the 95% confidence interval.
