AMC Entertainment, the largest movie theater chain in the world, will soon add Dogecoin and Shiba Inu to its list of online payment options, AMC CEO Adam Aron revealed in a tweet Monday. The CEO wrote:

“This might rev up the Cryptocurrency fans amongst you. AMC IT says that BitPay will be live for AMC online payments on our web site by March 19, and live on our mobile apps by April 16. Possibly a few days earlier. BitPay, and therefore soon AMC, accepts Doge Coin and Shiba Inu.”

The theater chain will use cryptocurrency payment provider BitPay to accept online payments of DOGE and SHIBA from March.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time the company has revealed such plans. In a Twitter poll conducted by AMC in September last year, the chain asked whether it should “explore accepting Dogecoin?” 69.8% of the total 112,651 votes were in favor of AMC adopting DOGE payments. The theater chain currently accepts Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash for online payments.

AMC is currently the world’s largest theater chain with more than 950 theaters and 10,500 screens across the globe. The company has always shown interest in blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. From offering gift cards through cryptocurrencies to pre-distributing limited edition NFTs of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” AMC is taking a hands-on approach to adopt the nascent industry.
