N.Avenue, which operates CoinDesk JAPAN, has been developing “btokyo club” is a limited paid community service centered on business leaders of major companies researching Web3.

On November 16th, the fifth column cloud table was held with the theme of “DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization)”, which is attracting attention as a new form of organizational management in the context of regional revitalization. In particular, this time, just as the Liberal Democratic Party web3PT was holding a “DAO rulemaking hackathon,” btokyo club participants held a workshop in which they analyzed and considered famous DAOs on their own.

As this is a closed event for members only, we cannot introduce the details of the event in detail, but we will provide an overview of the presentations and workshops by experts on the day.

[btokyo club November Roundtable & Workshop]What is sustainable project management by DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization)? ~Learn about the organizational structure and management methods that are different from those of a stock company~

This is our first attempt at a workshop at btokyo club. The venue was set up differently than usual, with participants seated in five groups.

First, there was a presentation by Yudai Suzuki, co-founder of Fracton Ventures, who is researching the use cases and actual situation of DAOs around the world. He introduced the company’s efforts, an elemental breakdown to clarify the definition of DAO, and the “current” definition of DAO.

He further explained that the DAO’s treasury (assets managed by the DAO for operational purposes) amounted to $22.5 billion (approximately 3,375 billion yen, at an exchange rate of 150 yen to the dollar). We introduced examples of multiple DAOs and how to investigate data related to DAOs.

At the workshop, each group selected one DAO from among several DAOs selected by Suzuki, such as Gitcoin, ENS, and Uniswap, and analyzed the actual state of treasury and activities within the DAO. In addition to Mr. Suzuki, members of Fracton Ventures and bitFlyer Blockchain director Aoi Kanemitsu served as mentors for the workshop, and followed up on the situation at each table.

During the course, Mr. Kanemitsu, who has been personally researching DAOs to find ways to utilize them in the real world, gave a presentation about Nishikigoi NFT and “Yamakoshi DAO” created by the former Yamakoshi Village in Niigata Prefecture, in which he also participated. . He explained what Yamakoshi DAO has brought to the region, the new goals of Yamakoshi DAO, and the structure and problems of the “Gyu no Kakutsuki Fan Club”, which Mr. Kanemitsu himself is leading and operating in a DAO-like manner. .

Regarding the problems of DAO, web3PT’s DAO rulemaking hackathon also pointed out issues such as corporate status and the inability to open bank accounts, but Mr. Kanemitsu’s realistic points about the current state of DAO were very interesting. .

At the end of the workshop, each group presented their analysis. It was an opportunity for us to recognize various aspects of DAOs through each other’s presentations, such as the fact that there are DAOs that are stably generating profits that exceed expectations, and that there are DAOs that are active in making proposals and those that are not.
