Apollo hires Christine Moy as head of digital assets strategy

Apollo Global Management, a US-based global alternative investment management firm, has now hired Christine Moy to lead its newly-formed digital-asset strategy department, Bloomberg was the first to report Thursday.

As Our Bitcoin News reported previously, Christine Moy was a renowned executive at banking giant JP Morgan for over 18 years before leaving the company in February this year. Moy headed several positions at JP Morgan, including the Global Head of Blockchain & Crypto, the Global Head of Liink payment network, and the Global Head of Metaverse.

She was the co-founder of JP Morgan’s digital assets and blockchain unit ‘Onyx’. In addition, she was one of the pioneers who led the JPM Coin. Before leaving the company, she was serving as the Global Head of Metaverse at JP Morgan’s Onyx division.

In a statement sent to media outlet CoinDesk, Apollo noted:

“In this newly created position, Christine will lead digital asset strategy across the firm, exploring more ways to apply blockchain technologies to our business. She’ll also play a key role in our strategy to invest in the most innovative digital asset companies and founders, with a specific focus on those transforming the financial services sector where Apollo can serve as a validator and enabler of new technologies.”

Apollo will focus on profitable projects related to blockchain and Web3, zeroing in on real-world use cases, such as asset custody, securitizations, and marketplaces, John Zito, deputy chief investment officer of credit, told Bloomberg. The company will invest somewhere between $50 million and $250 million.
