Starting today, February 15th, Melcoin, a subsidiary of Mercari that plans and develops services related to crypto assets and blockchain, will offer a feature that allows users to use their Bitcoins for payment when purchasing products on Mercari. Mercari, which has a cumulative total of over 3 billion items listed, will be able to seamlessly purchase all sorts of things using Bitcoin.
Melcoin will launch Bitcoin trading service in March 2023. Within seven months of its launch, the number of users exceeded 1 million.
The new feature “accelerates the experience of using Bitcoin.” How to use it is simple, just select “Use Bitcoin'' during the purchase process. All Bitcoin prices are expressed in yen.
Previously, you had to sell your Bitcoins and add them back to your Mercari account balance to purchase them, but now you can purchase them more smoothly.
“In order for Bitcoin to become more familiar to us and for more customers to use it in the future, we need to not only increase the number of people who own Bitcoin through our Bitcoin trading services, but also understand the meaning, value, and convenience of Bitcoin. We believe it is essential to have them do this,” Melcoin CEO Keita Nakamura said in a release.
