Sending a large amount of Bitcoin to Satoshi Nakamoto
At 3:02 a.m. on January 6, 2024 (Japan time), an unidentified sender sent 26.9 BTC (equivalent to approximately 170 million yen) to the address of Satoshi Nakamoto, the founder of Bitcoin. It was revealed that a large amount of Bitcoin was sent.
The destination address “1A1zP1eP5QGefi2DMPTfTL5SLmv7DivfNa” is known as a special address (P2PKH) that corresponds to the public key that received a reward in the Bitcoin genesis block, and is associated with Satoshi Nakamoto, the founder of Bitcoin. It is widely believed.
The purpose of the sender is unclear, but the fee is set at just 27,753 satoshis (approximately $12.09), so it appears to be a deliberate and symbolic act by the sender. After receiving 50 BTC on January 4, 2009, Satoshi Nakamoto’s address accumulated assets through similar donations, and currently holds 99.67619934 BTC (approximately 630 million yen). Please note that no withdrawals have been confirmed so far.
This address is widely recognized as a “dormant address” and has sparked a lot of speculation. Reasons include loss of private keys, intentional retention of assets, and Satoshi Nakamoto’s death as his identity remains unknown.

On the other hand, the balance of the remittance source address is currently zero, and tracking the history shows that a withdrawal has been made from the address “bc1…89f9”, which holds approximately 604 BTC (approximately $2.66 million) at the time of writing. This address collected Bitcoin from Binance wallets and other sources, and then distributed them across multiple wallets. The ratio of this sending to the balance is equivalent to 4.4%.
