Bored Ape NFT worth $350K mistakenly sells for $115

Bored Ape #835, an NFT from the popular collection Bored Ape Yacht Club, was sold for just $115 on March 28. The value is just a fraction of the collection’s average floor price of 106 ETH or $358,000 at press time.

Various media reports suggested that the owner of the NFT accidentally sold the collectible for 115 DAI, equivalent to $115, instead of 115 ETH, which amounts to $358,000. Alongside the Bored Ape NFT, the owner also accepted a 25 DAI ($25) bid for the NFT #11670 from the Mutant Ape Yacht Club collection. The floor price of the cheapest Mutant Ape currently available is 22.8 ETH (over $76,000).

The NFTs were sold on NFT marketplace OpenSea, which shows the USD amount alongside the sale, so the odds of missing the tally were few. Some have speculated that the accidental sale may have also resulted from a hack.

OpenSea suffered multiple exploits earlier this year after attackers took advantage of a bug in one of its smart contracts. The attackers used a bug that let them access the previous prices of NFTs listed on the marketplace. OpenSea users also recently suffered from an alleged phishing attack after many reported the disappearance of NFTs from their wallets.
