Caroline Pham, a commissioner at the Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), has stated that recent court opinions surrounding digital assets and securities are the first step towards regulatory clarity for cryptocurrencies in the United States. Speaking on Bloomberg TV, Pham noted the significance of regulatory working groups to designate a “holistic approach” to crypto regulation. Pham’s comments come after Ripple won a significant partial victory in an ongoing court battle with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), in which XRP was ruled not to have been sold as an unregistered security. The ruling was criticized by SEC chair Gary Gensler.
