The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF®), a platform dedicated to the development of sustainable cloud native software ecosystems, announced that Coinbase has become a Gold member, Invezz learned from a press release.

Increasing economic freedom worldwide

Coinbase aims to leverage the crypto economy to increase economic freedom worldwide. The platform has more than 98 million verified users and 230,000 ecosystem partners. 13,000 institutions in over 100 countries use the exchange to make easy and safe crypto investments as well as spend, save, and earn crypto.

To fulfill its mission, developing common infrastructure that is safe, transparent, secure, and benefits all participants is of paramount importance. Jordan Harband, Developer Relations Engineer at Coinbase, commented:

Coinbase’s infrastructure thrives on cloud native technology, and Kubernetes will continue to be of growing importance in our technology stack as the company evolves. We are investing heavily in cloud native technology to ensure the continued success and sustainability of cloud services for the developer ecosystem. We look forward to collaborating with CNCF to drive forward more initiatives, and to deliver and improve more tools for the community’s benefit.

Priyanka Sharma, executive director of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation, added:

Coinbase has been a trailblazer in the cryptocurrency economy. With their particular set of challenges in a nascent yet world-changing industry, we are very pleased that Coinbase has decided to join forces with the CNCF ecosystem and look forward to the unique insights they will bring.

Coinbase Cloud uses Kubernetes to offer a platform that allows them to deploy and maintain blockchain infrastructure across multiple cloud providers. This is why Coinbase employs core contributors to Kubernetes. Coinbase Cloud has contributed to Kong, Flux, Kyverno, kOps, and several other CNCF projects.
