Microsoft-owned business and employment-oriented networking platform LinkedIn has revealed a nearly 400% year-on-year growth in crypto-related searches on its platform in 2021. The figures have outperformed all IT and tech job searches on LinkedIn, suggesting a growing incline towards Web 3.0.

As per the statistics posted by LinkedIn News on December 12, job postings with titles incorporating terms like “bitcoin,” “ethereum,” “blockchain” and “cryptocurrency” grew 395% in the U.S. from 2020 to 2021. Taking into consideration that job openings in the wider tech field was 98% during the same period, the crypto industry saw a significant boom in 2021.

The study further noted that most of the job openings amassed recruits from ‘Software’ and ‘Finance’ fields, but rising demand for professionals in accounting, consulting, staffing, and computer hardware was also noted.

“Hiring demand surged last year amid an influx of funding. Investors worldwide poured $30 billion into crypto and blockchain startups in 2021, according to PitchBook data,” the news read. It added.

“At the same time, public interest in crypto exploded as high profile evangelists like Elon Musk praised the technology—and crypto companies entered the mainstream, as evidenced by the newly-christened Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.”

Meanwhile, crypto media outlet The Block Crypto revealed that over 8,400 people were hired by 21 crypto firms it surveyed in 2021. The trend will likely continue in 2022 with major companies, such as Disney, Hulu, and Block, already posting job openings for crypto experts on LinkedIn.
