Toward greater efficiency in digital corporate bonds

It has been revealed that three domestic companies, Daiwa Securities, Progma, and SBI R3 Japan (hereinafter referred to as SBIR3), will collaborate on the issuance of digital corporate bonds. Domestic media reported this on the 11th.

Daiwa Securities and Progma systems will be connected in order to streamline the issuance of digital corporate bonds and reduce the workload. The two companies’ systems are both based on the blockchain “Corda” that SBIR3 is involved in, making it easy to interoperate. The plan is to invite participation from other securities companies in the future.

Currently, there is an inefficient process for issuing corporate bonds. Particularly in the process called “pre-marketing,” each company’s work may overlap, and communication is also carried out by phone, email, and chat, and Excel is used to aggregate information.

Pre-marketing is the process of interviewing investors to predict demand when issuing corporate bonds. In order to resolve these issues, the three companies have agreed to conduct joint verification.
