Dating.com announced the debut of metaverse dating based on the unique architecture in Decentraland. On September 23, singles of all ages can start to explore Dating.com’s metaverse dating space to mingle, flirt, and find the love of their life.
Interactive activities and unique gift feature
Dating.com has made it possible for singles to take part in different interactive zones and activities. What’s more, the dating platform’s unique gift-giving feature has been adapted to the metaverse. Singles can now give each other NFTs as presents and an expression of digital love.
Dating.com will host three virtual marriages
To celebrate the grand opening, the platform will host the weddings of three real couples on different continents that met and fell in love on Dating.com. The unique event will unite them in “blockchain matrimony,” and they will get their marriage certificates as NFTs.
The couples’ relatives and friends will attend the metaverse ceremonies along with an officiant. There will be a formal dress code to follow.
Dating.com is part of Dating Group, which owns more than 30 online dating sites and has staff and offices in seven countries. Dating Group’s Chief Strategy Officer KJ Dhaliwal said:
Dating Group has been on the front line of innovation, helping people from all walks of life connect with others all over the world. Dating.com, which is our flagship site, has been a pioneer in enabling social discovery. The next step in our development is bringing the platform into the metaverse.
The benefits of VR dating
Virtual reality dating lets people connect without any judgment or superficial, materialistic factors they might have to deal with in the physical world. According to the creators of this platform, it allows users to create relationships focused on shared values, personality, and common interests and will save them the time and money often wasted on dates IRL.
