Is May a good month for buying eBay shares?

eBay Inc. (NASDAQ: EBAY) has announced its debut digital collectibles drop featuring 13 limited edition NFTs.

The NFTs will feature a 3D rendering of hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, with prices ranging from $10 to $1,500. Fans and collectors can access the tiered collection via the same payment methods available for eBay’s customers.

The e-commerce platform revealed its plans to venture into the non-fungible token space earlier this month.

According to the announcement released on Monday, the first collection is a result of collaboration with OneOf, a Polygon-based Web3-focused platform.

The partnership with OneOf means eBay will benefit from an indirect collaboration with Sports Illustrated. The companies plan to extend the NFTs to other sports icons, with more collections planned throughout the year.

The eBay stock was trading around $44.55, up by 0.6% on Monday (at 10.50 pm ET). However, with stocks in sell-off mode for much of 2022, the company’s share is currently 34% off its highs at the start of the year.
