Renowned tech figures Elon Musk and Jack Dorsey have taken to social media to express their criticism of Meta’s Threads, a text-based app introduced by the social media giant formerly known as Facebook. 

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, took to Twitter to express his concerns about the privacy and security implications of Meta’s Threads. Musk highlighted the potential risks associated with centralized messaging platforms, stating that users should be cautious about sharing sensitive information on such platforms.

Responding to a Twitter user’s comment on social media monopolies, Musk stated, “Any social media monopoly is despair.”

In addition, Jack Dorsey, Twitter co-founder, joined the conversation, responding to a user’s disappointment with the absence of certain features on Threads. Dorsey emphasized the lack of user choice in removing algorithmic elements and pointed to Instagram as an example. 

In a lighthearted remark, the screenshot of Mark Zuckerberg discussing with the Facebook users, stating ”that if you ever need info about anyone of Harvard, I have 4000 emails, pictures, address” where Dorsey commented that “We wanted flying cars, instead we got 7 Twitter clones.”

Dorsey raised questions about Meta’s data handling practices and its impact on user privacy. He even emphasized the importance of decentralized and open-source alternatives that prioritize user control and security.

Twitter Considers Legal Action Against Meta Over Threads Development
