Elon Musk continues to pump the price of Dogecoin (DOGE/USD) despite the ongoing recession in the cryptocurrency market. The Tesla CEO recently bought a 9.2% stake on Twitter, and he has hinted that Dogecoin integration on the social media platform could be coming soon.
Musk is a major supporter of Dogecoin, and he has already accepted the use of the meme coin to buy Tesla merchandise.
Musk plans for Twitter Blue
Since Musk became the largest shareholder on Twitter and joined the company’s board, he has been making proposals on improving the social media platform. One of the reforms he has proposed is preventing the use of bots on the platform a shutting down spammy accounts.
To make this possible, Musk has tweeted about setting a monthly subscription for Twitter Blue users. The subscription will come with an authentication mark for Twitter users. This verification would be different from the one offered on official accounts or accounts used by public figures.
“Everyone who signs up for Twitter Blue (i.e. pays $3/month) should get an authentication checkmark. But should be different from “public figure” or “official account checkmark,” Musk tweeted.
Musk is also planning to add more features on Twitter Blue. One of these features is the option to undo a tweet, bookmark folders and go into readers mode. According to Musk, having a $3 subscription will increase the number of verified users on the platform and make bot maintenance too expensive.
Elon Musk pushes for DOGE
Musk is also planning to boost the use of Dogecoin on the platform. When describing his plans for Twitter Blue subscriptions, he said, “Maybe even an option to pay in Doge.” The Tesla CEO added that Twitter needed to lower its dependency on corporations to pay for advertisements.
Musk has been a long-time supporter of Dogecoin. Earlier this week, the executive was behind a DOGE rally featuring a Dogecoin Shiba Inu dog during the launch of a Texas gigafactory. The price of Dogecoin recorded double-digit gains, but it has since cooled down and followed the broader market trend.
