Launch on second testnet
The testing process for Dencun, the next upgrade to the Ethereum blockchain, is progressing smoothly. The upgrade was completed on the second of the three testnets, Sepolia, around 8 a.m. Japan time on the 31st.

Parithosh Jayanthi, a DevOps engineer at the Ethereum Foundation, said on social media I brought it.
The upgrade was rolled out on the first testnet, Goerli, on the 18th. The final testnet, Holesky, will undergo a Dencun upgrade on February 7th at 8:35 pm (Japan time).
Once the third testnet deployment is successfully completed, Dencun’s mainnet launch date will be determined.

What is Dencun upgrade?
The core of the Dencun upgrade is the introduction of EIP-4844: Proto-Danksharding. This new feature is expected to reduce the cost of data transfer from Layer 2 (L2) to Layer 1 (L1), and is expected to significantly reduce transaction fees for Layer 2 users.
Layer 2 is any additional protocols or solutions built on top of the basic blockchain (Layer 1). Mainly to solve scalability problems, improve transaction speed and reduce fees.
Protodunk sharding, introduced by Dencun, is a feature that attaches temporary data packets called “blobs” to blocks. Blobs can temporarily hold large amounts of data, but are not permanently stored by Ethereum’s virtual machines, allowing for efficient large-scale data transfers without increasing the burden on blockchain storage. do.
Proto-dunk sharding is positioned as an early step in the transition to sharding technology, which splits blockchain data into multiple parts and processes each part separately. Recently, the impact of this technology on the supply of Ethereum has also attracted attention.
