Ethereum upgrade “Denkun” implemented on last testnet | CoinDesk JAPAN

The final rehearsal for the Ethereum blockchain upgrade “Dencun” took place on the 7th on Holesky, the final testnet. This will be Denkun’s biggest upgrade in about a year.

In this test, a simulation of “protodunk sharding” was performed. This is a technology feature aimed at reducing rollup transaction costs and making data availability cheaper through the introduction of “blobs,” a new compartmentalized space for storing data. .

With the successful upgrade at Horesky, the long-awaited Denkun upgrade is nearing its final stage. It will be rolled out to mainnet in the coming weeks.

The upgrade began at 11:34 UTC and was finalized shortly thereafter.

Horesky was the last and most anticipated of the three testnets on which Denkun’s simulations were conducted. This is because Horesky is the newest of the three testnets and has a larger validator set than the mainnet.

So in theory, if the upgrade runs smoothly on Horesky, the process should complete without any issues on mainnet.

Ethereum developers are scheduled to meet for a biweekly consensus layer meeting on the 8th to set a date for the mainnet Denkun upgrade, which is expected to occur in late February or early March.
