eToro, one of the most popular global exchanges, is always adding new crypto assets to its investment platform. The most recent additions are Hedera (HBAR/USD) and Avalanche (AVAX/USD), Invezz learned from a publication by the exchange. Of course, both assets surged in value on the news.

About Hedera Hashgraph

Hedera Hashgraph is a distributed ledger for enterprise use that is based on Directed Acyclic Graph technology. The network is powered by native crypto asset HBAR, and governed by a group of global corporations including Boeing, IBM, and Google.

Hedera is the most used, sustainable, enterprise-grade public network for the decentralized economy that allows individuals and businesses to create powerful decentralized applications (DApps).

A fairer, more efficient system

It is designed to be a fairer, more efficient system that eliminates some of the limitations that older blockchain-based platforms face — such as slow performance and instability.

Unlike most other cryptocurrency platforms, Hedera Hashgraph isn’t built on top of a conventional blockchain. Instead, it introduces a completely novel type of distributed ledger technology known as a Hashgraph.

Low fees and high speed

Hedera transactions have an average transaction fee of just $0.0001 USD and typically reach finality in under five seconds. Overall, Hedera Hashgraph claims it can handle more than 10,000 transactions per second (TPS) — compared to the around 5-20 for most popular proof-of-work (PoW)-based blockchains.

Hedera was trading for $0.26 and had gained 10.14% at the time of writing.

About Avalanche

Avalanche is a smart contact platform focused on speed, security, and sustainability, and was founded by Cornell University computer science professor Emin Gün Sirer. AVAX is the native token of the Avalanche blockchain. It is the tenth biggest crypto by market cap.

The true Ethereum killer

Avalanche is one of Ethereum’s rivals, aiming to unseat it as the most popular blockchain for smart contracts. It aims to do so by having a higher transaction output of up to 6,500 transactions per second while not compromising scalability.

This is made possible by Avalanche’s unique architecture. It consists of three individual blockchains: the X-Chain, C-Chain and P-Chain. Each chain has a distinct purpose. Avalanche blockchains use different consensus mechanisms.

At the time of writing, 1 AVAX was trading for $89.24 and had added 9.36% to its value.
