Soufiane Oulahyane, a Moroccan citizen, has been charged by the US Department of Justice for creating a fake version of the online marketplace OpenSea. Using a cybercrime technique called “spoofing,” Oulahyane gained unauthorized access to digital assets and NFTs. He lured Manhattan NFT owners to his fraudulent OpenSea website, tricking them into revealing their seed phrases. Oulahyane then sold bitcoins and numerous NFTs, including one from the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection.
