The PCE deflator’s comprehensive price index decreased by 0.1% month-on-month, marking the first negative level since April 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic. The core price index also rose 1.9% on a six-month annualized basis, falling below the Fed’s 2% inflation target for the first time since September 2020.
