France has updated its cryptocurrency licensing regime to align with the Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulations proposed by the European Commission last year. The move by France’s Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) aims to create a harmonized framework within the EU for regulating the cryptocurrency industry. The new licensing regime requires French crypto firms to apply to the AMF for approval to operate. It also obliges foreign crypto firms to appoint a legal representative in France and register with the AMF before offering their services in the country.
