The second “DAO Rulemaking Hackathon” to discuss the state of laws regarding DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations) was held on November 22nd at the Liberal Democratic Party Headquarters. This is the second installment of the LDP’s web3PT initiative scheduled for four consecutive weeks.

As with the first event, in order to understand the current state of DAO in Japan, businesses from all over the country that are implementing various initiatives based on DAO and businesses that provide DAO-related solutions will present their efforts. The venue is Conference Room 101 of the Liberal Democratic Party Headquarters. In the front are Congressman Takuya Hirai, head of the Liberal Democratic Party’s Digital Society Promotion Headquarters, as the organizers, Congressman Masaaki Hira, chairperson of web3PT, and Congressman Hideto Kawasaki, the secretary general of web3PT, as well as presentation companies such as ODK Solutions, Sony, and Blockchain. After Rep. Kawasaki declared the event, Rep. ODK Solutions

ODK Solutions introduced the example of Kindai University, which issues NFTs to students based on their volunteer performance, and the Yoichi Ochiai Summer School’s initiative targeting elementary school students, which aims to visualize the “trajectory of learning” with NFTs.

Sony

Sony is leveraging the knowledge it has cultivated with FeliCa, a contactless IC card technology used in transportation IC cards, etc., to create an initiative to realize the issuance and utilization of NFTs and the management of private keys using a familiar UX. Introducing. He gave a presentation on conducting a demonstration experiment to provide a secure and easy-to-use card device along with services such as reissuance in case of loss.

Blockchain Promotion Association (BCCC)

The Blockchain Promotion Association is introducing a summer school for elementary and junior high school students that aims to train future researchers and form a knowledge network that transcends generations. It was introduced that the graduation certificate NFT can be used as a ticket to attend the annual alumni reunion or as a ticket to access social media.

Sibylla

Sibilla gave a presentation that it is working on “providing technical infrastructure to make Web3 (including DAO) available to general consumers.” We introduced examples of its use in Kawasaki City (providing incentives to citizens who work on eco-friendliness) and in the community of radio stations and listeners.

pNounsDAO

pNouusDAO aims to participate as a sub-DAO in NouusDAO, one of the most famous DAOs in the world. He introduced the innovative mechanism of NouusDAO, which issues one NFT per day in a fully automated auction and uses the sales as funds for its activities, as well as pNounsDAO’s unique initiatives.

“Design that does not require fungible tokens”

In the presentations by each business operator, issues such as the current issues faced by the business operators and requests for DAO rule-making were also raised. This time, perhaps because there were many businesses trying to utilize DAO in the education field, it was impressive that multiple businesses requested a “design that does not require fungible tokens.”

Other issues raised include “DAO’s corporate status,” “anonymity of DAO members,” and “taxation on NFTs held,” as in the first issue, and calls for swift passage of the bill and trial operation in DAO special zones. There was also.

At the end, Councilor Taira gave a concluding speech and talked about the purpose of the DAO rulemaking hackathon, saying, “Just because rules are in place, it doesn’t mean that everything that doesn’t apply to those rules will be out. It shows us the direction in which we want to move forward,” he reiterated. He sent a message to the participants saying, “We would like to continue to receive your opinions, not just here.”
