Guest introduction

The 20th GM Radio will be streamed on April 10th (Monday) from 21:00 on the “CP_Global” Twitter space. This time, we are inviting CEO Robby Yung of Animoka Brands (hereinafter referred to as Animoka) and Abner Jia CEO of Polyhedra Network (hereinafter referred to as Polyhedra) as guests.

Polyhedra develops the infrastructure for network interoperability. A major feature is the extensive use of zero-knowledge proofs.

Zero-knowledge proof is a type of proof protocol. It refers to a mechanism in which the prover proves that the claim is “truth” without disclosing information other than “that the claim is true” to the verifier. In the blockchain area, zero-knowledge proofs are currently mainly used to solve privacy and scalability issues.

In addition to interoperability, Polyhedra also focuses on privacy and scalability. Using zero-knowledge proof, we are trying to connect Web2 and Web3 systems by sending crypto assets (virtual currency) and messages, and sharing data.

The following three products are being developed by the company.

• zkBridge: cross-chain infrastructure
• ZK-DID: Verifiable Identity System
• ZK-NFT: NFT protocol for asset and data interoperability

Polyhedra raised two rounds of funding this year. The first round raised $10 million (approximately ¥1.3 billion at the current rate) in February, and this round was funded by Binance Labs and Polychain Capital. Animoka is participating in this fundraising.

Also, the second fundraising is this month. Led by Polychain Capital, it has raised $15 million (approximately ¥1.96 billion).

What is Animoka

Animoka is a major Web3 company founded in Hong Kong in 2014. He was invited to GM Radio in the second distribution, and this will be his second participation.

The company owns “Blowfish Studios,” “Grease Monkey Games,” and “Eden Games,” starting with Metaverse-based blockchain game “The Sandbox.” There are more than 380 external investment destinations. Key global brand partnerships include Disney, WWE and Formula 1®.

In February 2022, the company announced the establishment of a strategic subsidiary in Japan, Animoka Brands Co., Ltd., and its expansion into Japan. At the same time, Animoka Brands Co., Ltd. announced that it has completed a seed round of approximately 1.1 billion yen in funding.

Recently, in March 2023, NEC announced partnerships with two companies, including Animoka. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed in April of the same year for the purpose of creating and expanding the digital wallet market in the three web domains, centering on entertainment such as games and content (IP).
