Top luxury apparel brand Gucci is gearing up to establish its corner in the virtual world after purchasing a plot of land in the metaverse platform The Sandbox.
The amount of land purchased remains undisclosed but the new venture falls under its latest GenZ-focused project Gucci Vault, an online concept store that was established in line with Gucci’s metaverse plans.

Details of the latest project are yet to be revealed but the companies plan to offer an immersive fashion experience in The Sandbox, Vogue Business was the first to report Wednesday. In addition, Gucci will also enable people to buy, own and use select fashion items designed by Gucci in-house designers on The Sandbox platform.
The announcement comes in the heels of Gucci’s new NFT collection in collaboration with SUPERPLASTICS, a creator of animated celebs, vinyl toys & digital collectibles. The collection comprises 500 NFTs including ten exclusive digital collectibles and some physical ceramic sculptures.
Gucci sold its first NFT collection in May last year via auction house Sotheby’s and has since become the front runner in the race of luxury brands entering the burgeoning sector.
