The project is entitled “Future Frequency, Explorations in Generative Art and Fashion”.
Christie’s said that working with Gucci will start a conversation around generative art and how it can be applied to tomorrow’s fashion.
The collection consists of 21 artworks. Using generation technology such as artificial intelligence, Gucci’s textiles and “Bamboo Handle”, a bag with a bamboo-shaped handle, which was first created in 1947, are works with Gucci’s design as a motif. .
In addition to the digital artwork, the product also comes with a 3D file. Buyers can 3D print it, display it in the metaverse, or customize it for their avatar.
It also comes with a 46-meter physical roll of fabric printed and embroidered with digital art patterns.
The sale will take place on Christie’s 3.0, an on-chain auction platform for digital art provided by Christie’s. Artworks from this collection will also be exhibited at Gucci Art Space, Gucci’s online gallery.
What are NFTs?
An abbreviation for “Non-Fungible Token”, a digital token that cannot be replaced and has a unique value. In addition to being used for exchanging “digital items” in blockchain games, it is also an epoch-making way for rights holders (creators) in the “secondary distribution market”, which was difficult to achieve with second-hand sales, as well as proof of ownership of high-priced art works. It is also attracting attention as a means of reduction.

Participating artists are heavily inspired by designs and productions across clothing, textiles and the fashion industry.
The project also aims to challenge preconceived notions about technology. For example, “thinking about ways to use algorithms and data to enhance human creativity across a range of disciplines.”
