Gunnercooke first law firm to accept crypto as payments

2 years ago 133

Gunnercooke, one of the major UK-based law firms, is now accepting cryptocurrencies as a means of payment for its services. The firm has partnered with FCA-approved crypto exchange Coinpass to accept payments in Bitcoin and Ether, two of the largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.

Naseer Patel, Finance Director at Gunnercooke, said in the press release:

“Up to now, only a few US law firms allow for cryptoasset payments so we are proud to be at the forefront of innovation in the UK. We will now be able to work with a wider variety of clients across different jurisdictions, plus offer our partners the flexibility to be paid securely in the way they choose.”

We’re delighted to announce that we are now the first major UK law firm to officially accept payment in cryptoassets. We’ve partnered with @coinpassglobal to make the exchanges and have now accepted our first payment from client @AttestantIO. https://t.co/3rIK4ZfS9d #CryptoNews pic.twitter.com/enH10N8O13

Founded in 2010, Gunnercooke is one of the major commercial law firms in the country. With over 10 offices across Germany and UK, the firm has offered its legal and professional services to more than 100 cryptocurrency developers, platforms, and exchanges.

Most recently, crypto-staking service provider Attestant paid Gunnercooke using Ethereum in exchange for its legal services, making it one of the first companies to leverage the payment option.

While Gunnercooke might be the first major player in the UK to accept cryptocurrencies, medium-sized law firms in the US already started adopting the new mode of payment in 2017. Steptoe & Johnson, Frost Brown Todd, and McLaughlin & Stern are some of the US law firms that accept crypto payments.
