Focus on building emerging technologies

Web3 and Bitcoin are said to be one of the hottest topics in the world, but they are difficult to understand intuitively, and there are few people who can clearly answer what kind of needs and future potential there are in the first place.

Therefore, at the WebX conference hosted by CoinPost Co., Ltd., Mr. Yuzo Kano, who is well versed in Web3, and Mr. Hiroyuki Nishimura, a businessman and the founder of 2channel, held a dialogue on the theme of “Does Bitcoin and Web3 need in the world?” It was an opportunity for everyone from beginners to business operators to deepen their understanding.

The dialogue between Hiroyuki Nishimura and Yuzo Kano was realized with the cooperation of the business video media “ReHacQ”. The moderator was Mr. Hiroki Takahashi, CEO of tonari Co., Ltd., which works on “ReHacQ”.

Hiroyuki himself enjoys Web3 games such as STEPN. “There are fraudulent people in the Web3 world, and Web3’s unclear legal position and lack of user understanding are at the root of fraudulent activity,” he warned.

In particular, Hiroyuki pointed out that it is unclear exactly what kind of rights NFTs (non-fungible tokens) trade. Through the discussion with Mr. Kano, the attendees once again shared the fact that the ownership of digital data is not legally recognized, so even if you purchase NFTs, you will not acquire the ownership of the data.

Kano clarified that NFTs do not have ownership or copyright, and that only “sense of ownership” is being traded. Its value is backed by people who are proud to have NFTs, and users should understand that when trading. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of user awareness, including terms of use, in a global environment.

Hiroyuki makes a similar point of view for Web3 as a whole. He is concerned about the increasing proportion of people who want to make money on speculation, and those who try to deceive them, and the decreasing proportion of people who are motivated purely to build.

Mr. Kano agrees, saying that the situation is similar to the early days of the Internet and the Internet bubble around 2000. However, Hiroyuki criticized that while listed companies had a check system to protect investors, the open market Web3 lacked it, making it dangerous for investors. He also expressed concern that despite self-regulatory rules such as IEOs being put in place, users who pursue opportunities think about expanding overseas and end up being scammed.

Finally, Mr. Kano, who talked about the possibilities of Web3, said that he sees great potential in micropayments, and that there are new business models that utilize mass labor, such as manhole photography (e.g. TEKKON), and hand out small rewards.

In response, Hiroyuki said that for users, Web3 should not be a means to make a lot of money, but a world where you can earn a few hundred yen a day playing games like Stepn, and advised participants to find other motivations than making money.

Both exchanged opinions on Web3. The unique dialogue ended on a high note.

Thank you all for watching!!

The conversation with Hiroyuki is over. I would like to express my gratitude to the customers who came to the extent that there was standing room.

In Japan, the Liberal Democratic Party’s Web3 project team has been launched, and the momentum to promote Web3 is increasing, such as proposing a new national strategy to the Prime Minister based on the evolution of AI and Web3.

Under these circumstances, attention is focused on how virtual currencies such as Bitcoin, NFTs (non-fungible tokens), decentralized finance (DeFi), etc. have the potential to change the world, and whether such development of Web3 is necessary in the future society.
