The Hong Kong government announced on June 30 that it would establish a task force to promote Web3 development.

The task force will be chaired by Treasurer Paul Chan and will include 15 members from relevant private industry, as well as financial regulators and senior government officials. Animoca Brands co-founder and chairman Yat Siu announced on July 3 that he will join the task force.

“The blockchain technology that underpins cryptoassets is secure, transparent, low-cost, and has the potential to solve many difficult problems in finance, business operations, and trade,” Chan said in a press release. ing.

In February, the Hong Kong government announced that it would invest $6.4 million (approximately 900 million yen, equivalent to 140 yen to the dollar) to develop the Web3 ecosystem and set up a Web3 task force.
