Volan upgrade complete
Injective (INJ), a layer 1 blockchain that specializes in the financial sector and aims to be the fastest, completed its new mainnet upgrade “Volan” on the 12th.
The upgrade includes the integration of software modules that enhance support for real-world assets (RWA), enhanced cross-chain functionality, and improvements to the native token design.
Injective further strengthens its position as a blockchain specialized for finance, expanding its selection to include a wide range of plug-and-play Web3 modules.
The integration of the RWA module streamlines the issuance and management of related assets, enabling institutions and individuals to access a variety of structured products. Injective has identified institutions in the crypto space such as Brevan Howard and Cumberland as potential customers, and the assets it plans to deploy include tokenized fiat currencies, government bonds, and other credit products.

Real world assets (RWA) are intangible and tangible real assets such as stocks, bonds, real estate, artwork, precious metals, and carbon credits. The tokenized RWA market is growing rapidly, particularly driven by US Treasuries. According to the RWA aggregation site, the RWA market size has reached more than $500 million.

Improved interoperability and tokenomics
One of the highlights of the Volan upgrade is the enhancement of the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol within Injective. Injective is originally built on Cosmos and aims to enhance interoperability with other chains within the Cosmos ecosystem.
IBC integration facilitates complex cross-chain transactions. For example, cross-chain swaps will be possible using decentralized applications on another Cosmos blockchain, such as Celestia or Osmosis.
“The Injective Volan mainnet upgrade provides developers with unparalleled native building blocks for the next generation of financial applications, while providing connectivity to other blockchains and applications,” said Eric Chen, CEO of Injective Labs. The focus is on improving sexuality.”
Regarding tokenomics, with the Volan upgrade, Injective aims to make changes to the token’s on-chain inflation parameters, reducing the supply of INJ tokens and increasing their value over time. Additionally, the introduction of new oracles will integrate off-chain price feeds directly into the blockchain.
Injective is an interoperable blockchain focused on decentralized finance use cases, using its native token INJ for governance and transaction fees. In August 2022, it successfully raised a $40 million funding round led by Jump Crypto, with support from Binance, Pantera Capital, Mark Cuban, and others.
