In more news of increasing institutional adoption of the metaverse, Interpol has unveiled its own metaverse world, which will initially be used for training purposes. Moreover, the international police organization is now officially part of the Defining and Building the Metaverse initiative, among companies such as Meta, Mastercard, and Microsoft.

Interpol’s first training course in the metaverse already took place. Students first received instructions on checking passengers’ documents and screening, before being taken to a virtual airport, where they put what they’ve learned to practice. More such training programs will follow soon. In addition, members of Interpol worldwide will be able to communicate through their virtual avatars.

According to Interpol’s officials, the organization will also focus on fighting metaverse crime. Harassment, crimes against children, and data theft are just some of the illegal activities also associated with the metaverse that Interpol will try to cut off in the future.
