The fourth halving of Bitcoin (BTC) is scheduled for April next year.

According to Deribit, the world’s largest cryptocurrency options exchange by trading volume and open interest, investors are already gearing up, with contract months two months after the price-hungry halving. ), demand for bitcoin futures and options is on the rise.

Deribit said it will list June 2024 futures and options at 08:00 UTC on the 22nd.

“Normally, Deribit will list June 2024 options and futures at the end of the June 2023 quarter next week. For this reason, we asked for a listing earlier than usual,” Deribit chief commercial officer Luuk Strijers told CoinDesk.

“For derivatives desks and dealers, the ability to trade on exchanges is important because it reduces overall capital requirements and allows them to hedge their exposures.”

Skilled traders buy options and futures to make a low-cost, bullish or bearish investment in the underlying asset.

The halving, scheduled for April, will reduce the block reward paid to miners from 6.25 BTC to 3.125 BTC. Historically, bitcoin prices have risen in the months leading up to the halving and fallen after the halving.

That means the next 12 months could be more volatile. Furthermore, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is expected to make a decision on BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF (Exchange Traded Fund) application in early 2024.

Just learned the Blackrock ETF decision precedes BTC halving by 2 months (Apr 2024).

Strong tailwinds ahead for BTC, don’t think I’ve ever been more bullish.

On top of ordinals and taproot, I’m shifting my narrative to BTC > ETH.

Numerous catalysts favoring BTC right now… pic.twitter.com/s8qryYvb8E
