This weekend, Meta’s Chief Global Affairs Officer, Joel Kaplan, attended the Munich Security Conference where he met with a number of global policymakers. Yesterday, he spoke on a panel about reviving European competitiveness, along with Luc Frieden (Prime Minister of Luxembourg), Franziska Brantner (Parliamentary State Secretary, Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Federal Republic of Germany; and Co-Chairwoman, Alliance 90/The Greens) and Manfred Weber (President, European People’s Party; Chairman, EPP Parliamentary Group, European Parliament).
Joel spoke about the socio-economic value open source AI creates, why it’s vital that the US & EU work collaboratively to foster this, and the importance of western nations winning the global AI race.
