KRAFTON, Inc., who’s behind the wildly popular PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS battle royale game, has signed an agreement with Solana Labs (SOL/USD) for support of blockchain gaming design and marketing, Invezz learned from a press release.
The choice of Solana
Solana is a top-performing and decentralized blockchain developed to enable scalable, user-friendly apps across the globe. It delivers scaling without compromising composability and security, allowing developers to build for the long term.
A single global state drives the reliable blockchain’s performance. It can process tens of thousands of smart contracts simultaneously through the innovative Proof of History protocol. This is a distributed clock that unlocks sub-second, low-latency finality across the global state.
Joint cooperation on investment opportunities
Through this partnership, KRAFTON and Solana Labs will cooperate on investment opportunities, creating a long-term relationship to develop and run NFT- and blockchain-based games and services.
Hyungchul Park, Lead of Web 3.0 Roundtable at KRAFTON, Inc. commented:
KRAFTON will continuously see ways to work closely with blockchain companies like Solana Labs as we work toward establishing our Web 3.0 ecosystem. As one of the best global high-performance blockchains with strength in high speed and low fees, Solana represents the best of the Web 3.0 ecosystem and its technologies. Through this cooperation, KRAFTON will acquire the insight needed to accelerate its investment in and output of blockchain-based experiences.
Johnny Lee, Head of Games Business Development at Solana Labs added:
We’re excited by KRAFTON’s commitment to building the future of gaming on Solana. KRAFTON is an established innovator in the games industry, and we are excited to be part of their next level up. We are seeing gamers increasingly seek out on-chain games, and gaming companies who respond quickly to this demand will set themselves up well for ongoing success.
Future plans
KRAFTON announced in February that it would enter the web 3.0 and NFT space based on the game operation and growth capacity acquired from the world-famous PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS.
The company has announced partnerships and investments in other areas related to NFT, metaverse, and blockchain. Its partners include XX Blue, Seoul Auction Blue, and NAVER Z.
