Leading hardware wallet provider Ledger has added support for CKB, the native token of Nervos Network, Invezz learned from a press release. From today, Ledger users can hold, send and receive CKB using the Nano S and Nano X wallets.
Benefits of hardware wallets
Cold (hardware) wallets like Ledger guarantee full isolation between the user’s private keys and a potentially vulnerable device. Nervos users can now take advantage of the high security of Ledger and store CKB there.
In addition, they will have access to the full suite of services available on the Ledger Live App, which they can use with Nano S or Nano X.
CKB provides security and immutability
Nervos’ token CKB (Common Knowledge Base) is the layer 1, public, proof of work, permissionless blockchain protocol of the Nervos Network. Users can store any crypto asset with the immutability, security, and permissionless nature of Bitcoin while allowing L2 and smart contract scaling.
Ledger can be used as part of the integration to sign transactions securely as users take advantage of the many new dApps on the Nervos blockchain, which is EVM-compatible.
Kevin Wang, co-founder at Nervos commented:
Being able to securely store your private keys in a cold storage wallet is an important feature for transacting within our ecosystem of dApps. Our community has been eagerly awaiting the completion of this integration, which will provide everyone with a new method of not only transacting but also securely storing their CKB.
A key step for Nervos
Completion of the Ledger integration is a crucial step for the Nervos platform because it wants to offer its rapidly increasing user community the highest quality integrations. Community members can look forward to many more future integrations as the number of dApps within the Nervos ecosystem continues to grow.
