As global sports personalities flock to the crypto world Lionel Messi, a world-class footballer, has signed an agreement worth more than $20 million with digital fan token company Socios.com. The contract will see Messi promote the company.
It is not the first time Messi is being involved with cryptocurrencies since his move from Barcelona to Paris St Germain included a crypto payment.
According to the deal signed with Socios, Messi will be involved in a publicity promotion campaign for Socios in the build-up to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar that is scheduled to start in November.
Legendary sportsmen and women moving into crypto
Messi is the latest among a growing list of legendary sportsmen and women flocking to the crypto world. Recently, NBA star LeBron James and NFL quarterback Tom Brady entered the crypto world.
In October 2021, Legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady gave a fan 1 bitcoin (BTC) for returning a landmark football (600th touchdown football by wide receiver Mike Evans) to him. On the other hand, LeBron James’ family foundation partnered with Crypto.com in late January this year to help kids learn about cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.
What is Socios.com?
Socios.com is a new app for esports and sports fans that allows the fans to get voting rights by acquiring digital fan tokens to influence the teams or clubs that they follow or love. The fans also get a chance to get club rewards and even compete in some once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
Some of the digitl fan tokens available on Socios.com include the digital fan tokens of Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona, Juventus, AS Roma, Galatasaray, Atletico Madrid, and Independiente.
Fans can buy and also sell these tokens on the Socios.com app.
