Litecoin (LTC/USD) is one of the popular coins in the crypto space. Litecoin, also dubbed the “digital silver”, has witnessed growing adoption as a means of payment. The Litecoin development team is pushing for even greater adoption with a highly-anticipated upgrade.
One of the notable upgrades on the Litecoin network is MimbleWimble. This upgrade will be launched soon, and it could trigger growth in LTC adoption, given that many countries are now shifting towards the digital asset sector.
Litecoin’s MimbleWimble upgrade
The MimbleWimble upgrade is now being debuted, years after the initial announcement regarding this upgrade. The upgrade seeks to make the blockchain network focused on privacy.
Once this feature is adopted, it will allow users to conduct anonymous transactions on the network. Large mining pools on the Litecoin network are currently preparing themselves to make this upgrade. The founder of Litecoin, Charlie Lee, also urges the community to support the process.
In a recent tweet, Lee called upon the community to help test the Litecoin Core 0.21.2rc6 upgrade.
We especially need people to test it on testnet, where MWEB has already activated. If you are testing on testnet, please join our MWEB development/testing chat.
Lee’s tweet garnered mixed reactions from Twitter users. Some pointed to the low engagement rate on the Twitter post, saying that Litecoin was no longer attracting much user attention. However, Lee noted that Litecoin was not buying engagements, unlike other crypto projects.
“What kind of engagement do you expect from a release candidate announcement? If you expected 100 replies and 1000 retweets, you should probably adjust your expectations as we don’t pay for engagement like other coins,” Lee said.
Litecoin whales remain active
Litecoin has not been performing well during the past 24 hours, just like the rest of the cryptocurrency market. LTC was trading at $110.92 at the time of writing after a slight dip in 24 hours.
Despite this performance, LTC is still attracting the attention of whales. Litecoin whales have transferred more than $100,000 within a day, and this ranked as the largest daily amount transacted by whales in a single day on the Litecoin network.
