Stars of the UK’s reality show Love Island, Jessica and Eve Gale, have received a warning from the national Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). The twins, who are also social media influencers, have promoted crypto on their Instagram accounts in an irresponsible way.
First, in June, Jessica Gale presented crypto as being a rather undemanding and quick way of making a profit. Following that, both twins advertised a certain crypto-related account and encouraged 1.7 million of their followers to go and earn that “easy” crypto money.
Last month, the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority announced that it is preparing the rules on how to regulate crypto marketing. Luckily, even without the regulatory framework in place, ASA was ready to step in and stop the Love Island stars’ potentially devastating false advertising.
Following this warning, the twins will be fined should they keep misleading the audience.
