Major virtual currency wallet Metamask provides access from fiat currencies in 9 countries including Japan

Major Web3/cryptocurrency wallet Metamask recently announced that it will be offering a new method for purchasing from fiat currency in nine countries including Japan.

Target countries are Japan, South Korea, Vietnam (VietQR, Mobile Money), Malaysia, Philippines (GCash), Indonesia (QRIS), Kingdom of Thailand (Thai QR), Egypt (Vodafone Cash), Chile (Webpay), and Japan. Regarding this, it seems that it will be provided through international payment services called Unlimit and TransFi.

Until now, debit and credit cards could be used to purchase virtual currency from Japan with Metamask, but the fees were high. Although details were not announced in this announcement, it is expected that fees will be kept down by the method of “local transfer (remittance within the same area).”
