Cryptocurrency ratings based on market data
Manec Script Bank Co., Ltd. announced on the 15th a new evaluation model for crypto assets (virtual currencies), “MCB Crypto Rating.” What was released this time is the “Market Performance Section,” which is primarily based on market data.
Manex Script Bank is a 100% subsidiary of Monex Group, Inc., a company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime, which operates Coincheck, a major domestic crypto asset (virtual currency) exchange.
In the Market Performance section, evaluation items are categorized into three main categories:
- Liquidity (40%): Evaluated based on trading volume, market capitalization, trading volume relative to market capitalization, etc.
- Speculation risk (40%): Considers maximum fluctuation rate, return, volatility, Sharpe ratio, etc.
- Concentration risk (20%): The occupancy rate of top addresses and the Gini coefficient (an indicator that measures the degree of dispersion) are used as evaluation criteria.
The ratings in the Market Performance section, which focuses on market data, are as follows:
In the latest rating results, Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) remain in the top two positions. On the other hand, Litecoin (LTC) rose from 8th place last time (released on June 8th) to 3rd place, Solana (SOL) rose from 5th place to 4th place, and newly ranked Chainlink (LINK) Ranked in 5th place. The changes in the rankings of these stocks are a result of their high evaluations, especially in terms of liquidity and concentration risk.

Strict standards reduce the number of investment grade stocks
Overall, there is a downward trend in scores in this evaluation. This is due to changes to more stringent evaluation criteria. Despite the new standards, there were no major changes in the lineup of top stocks. Furthermore, Manec Script Bank pointed out that, “The number of stocks with a score of 6 (600) or higher, which are considered investment grade, has decreased from 16 stocks last time to 5 stocks this time.”
It is presumed that the five stocks above LINK in the table above are applicable. *The scoring system has been changed from a 10-point scale to a 1000-point scale to more clearly show the fluctuations in evaluation.
According to Manek Script Bank, the ratings in the market performance section will be updated once a month from now on, with the first reference date set on December 10th, and will be updated on the 10th of every month thereafter.
This section uses absolute ratings for each stock, making changes in numbers more meaningful. For example, if a stock’s score has increased over the past year, it indicates that the stock is in a positive condition.
This time, the evaluation of the management entity is not included, and the “Project Assessment Section” will be released later as a rating that emphasizes the uniqueness of the project, which is less susceptible to market trends. Subscribers to the web3 newsletter operated by Manec Script Bank can view all rating results.
