Mercari subsidiary Melcoin announced on March 9 that it will start a crypto asset exchange business and provide a new service that allows Bitcoin to be bought and sold within the Mercari app.
According to the announcement, bitcoin transactions are completed with the Mercari app, and it is possible to purchase bitcoin from 1 yen using the sales proceeds and points obtained from Mercari, including the balance charged from financial institutions.
Mercari has a cumulative total of about 48 million users, and its GMV (gross merchandise transaction value) in 2022 will reach 932.7 billion yen.
By increasing the number of crypto asset holders, we aim to create a marketplace where all kinds of value, including not only physical goods but also digital assets, circulate in the future.
