Following on from it’s presale launch, the cutting edge, Play to Earn metaverse arcade Metacade (MCADE), is gaining ground on prominent metaverse games such as Axie Infinity. As the popularity of Axie Infinity (AXS) slows, Metacade looks set to overtake it and others as the premier GameFi destination.
What is Metacade?
Metacade is a virtual community hub where Web3 enthusiasts can go to become immersed in GameFi, with spaces to discover the most popular metaverse games, chat in real-time, and find out where and how to Play to Earn. It will be a completely decentralized GameFi platform, where users have complete control over the direction of Metacade, which games rise to the top, and which developers receive grants, called Metagrants, to further develop their ideas.
Seeking to be the one-stop shop for Play to Earn games, Metacade will be the place to go to learn all about GameFi, which games can earn them the most, and ways to make gaming better by being able to interact directly with game developers. The decentralized aspect means that Metacade isn’t owned by any corporation, such as other metaverse games like Axie Infinity, with all the power due to rest in the hands of the community.
How Does Metacade Work?
Metacade offers users their proprietary token, MCADE, for completing different tasks, such as writing reviews, posting top blockchain-based games, and testing games in development. The larger Metacade becomes, the more the MCADE token will potentially be worth, and the more control MCADE holders will enjoy.
With that control, MCADE token holders will be able to decide which game developers will receive grants, based on which game ideas they like the most. Developers will also be able to create beta versions of their ideas, to be tested by the Metacade community. Gamers will have the ability to communicate exactly what they want, what they don’t want, and what they think should be changed or enhanced. This completely decentralized platform promises to attract developers who may not otherwise have their ideas heard and allows the gamers of Metacade unprecedented control over which games are created and how they are developed.
What is the Difference Between Metacade and Axie Infinity?
Axie Infinity (AXS) is a metaverse game developed by Sky Davis studio which utilizes an in-game economy to purchase and collect digital pets that can then be bred and battled against others. Developed in 2017, Axie Infinity rose to popularity quickly, especially in countries such as the Philippines. After paying a starting fee, players could then begin to earn AXS tokens, named Smooth Love Potions. By 2020, starting fees reached as high as US$400, but by February 2022 the AXS tokens had lost 99% of their value amid the wider crypto crash, and have since failed to regain their value and popularity, causing Axie Infinity gamers to leave in droves.
As opposed to Axie Infinity and similar metaverse games, Metacade (MCADE) will not be owned by a corporate studio, instead being a decentralized platform where users have control over the direction of Metacade’s future. It also won’t be limited to a single game, with diversity helping to ultimately lessen its risks. Instead, it seeks to be a virtual arcade, a place for gamers to go to choose from many different games, just as you would in a physical arcade. This prevents Metacade’s success from being tied to a single game, like Axie Infinity. While Metacade will have its own token, the MCADE, it will be earned, used, and promoted sitewide for a variety of activities and use cases.
These differences make Metacade and the MCADE token more stable than tokens associated with just one game, like the Axie Infinity token AXS. With the Metacade community in charge of what games are developed and become popular, the leaderboard is predicted to be in constant motion, keeping Metacade fresh, fun, and open to new and exciting Play to Earn possibilities. While certain games such as Axie Infinity lose popularity and value, the metaverse arcade, Metacade, should remain strong and prosperous as long as gaming does, which is only growing in popularity as Web3 and GameFi sectors continue to strengthen.
