MetaMask Adds “Buy Crypto” to Browser Portfolio Dapp

MetaMask, a virtual currency wallet, announced on the 11th that it added a new function “Buy Crypto” to the asset management portal screen “Portfolio Dapp”. As a result, the Buy Crypto aggregation function that was available in the mobile app is now available in the browser version as well.

Clicking “Buy” in the browser extension opens a dedicated Portfolio Dapp page where you can buy over 90 tokens on eight different networks. Supported networks are as follows.

• Ethereum (ETH)
• Polygon (MATIC)
• Arbitrum (ARB)
• BNB
• Avalanche (AVAX) *C-Chain
• Phantom (FTM)
• Optimism (OP)
• Cello (CELO)

“Buy Crypto” supports payment methods such as debit cards, credit cards, PayPal, bank transfers, and ACH (US money transfer network). It is provided to users in over 189 countries (excluding Japan).

MetaMask’s virtual currency purchase function

MetaMask launched the “virtual currency purchase aggregator function” in June 2022. Since then, it has partnered with more than 7 payment providers around the world. In December 2010, Metamask announced a partnership with US remittance giant PayPal.

Through this partnership, MetaMask users will be able to purchase ETH through their PayPal account on the wallet app, and transfer ETH from PayPal’s digital wallet to MetaMask. However, the link between PayPal and MetaMask was limited to US users.

PayPal has long offered users the ability to trade and store four cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), on its platform. In partnership with MetaMask, support for self-managed wallets was realized for the first time.
