Buy ETH easily with your PayPal account
MetaMask, a self-managed wallet for crypto assets (virtual currency), announced on the 9th that US users can easily purchase Ethereum (ETH) using their PayPal account.

As a payment option when purchasing cryptocurrencies, users across the United States, excluding Hawaii, can now use PayPal as a payment method in addition to existing options such as debit cards and bank accounts.
In addition to purchasing with a PayPal account, it is now possible to send Ethereum from a PayPal account to Metamask. Metamask’s parent company ConsenSys and PayPal announced their partnership in December last year.
MetaMask is already working with payment providers such as MoonPay, Sardine, Transak and Wyre.
A partnership with MoonPay, announced in March, allows Nigerian users to exchange fiat naira for cryptocurrencies.
What is a self-managed wallet?
A wallet that is used to manage private keys and hold assets by yourself instead of an exchange. It is also called “self-hosted” or “self-custody”.

Purchasing function in the browser version
In April, Metamask added a new function “Buy Crypto” to the asset management portal screen “Portfolio Dapp”. As a result, it became possible to easily purchase virtual currency with legal currency even in the browser version.

It is provided to users in more than 189 countries (excluding Japan), and handles more than 90 tokens on 8 types of networks, including Ethereum, Polygon (MATIC), and Arbitrum (ARB).

Staking market for institutional investors
Metamask also operates a wallet for institutional investors, Metamask Institutional, and launched a marketplace dedicated to staking in March.
The four affiliated staking providers have various operating organization locations and conditions, and will respond to various regulatory requirements. Johann Bornman, Head of Institutional Products at MetaMask, explained that institutional investors have shown increasing interest in staking ETH since Ethereum’s major upgrade “merge.”
