The City of Miami will be launching 5,000 NFTs in December this year. The companies Time USA, Mastercard, and Salesforce are also involved in the project.
Artists from Miami – 56 of them – will be designing the NFTs. This is meant to symbolize the 56 square miles that the city stretches over. Generally speaking, the NFTs will be promoting Miami’s culture.
As for the companies, Time USA will assist with the planning and execution of the project. Mastercard will provide NFT holders with access to private tours of Miami’s cultural attractions, as well as to special events at restaurants. And Salesforce is in charge of the actual minting and sale of the NFTs.
This is not the first time that Miami is getting involved in Web3. Last August, the city launched its own coin, MIA (MiamiCoin). However, while it earned some $80 million in the first two months after it was launched, it is now 98.9% down from its all-time-high, according to CoinMarketCap.
