Minima selected for the MobilityXlab program

On June 15, decentralized blockchain protocol Minima was selected to be part of the eleven global startups to offer creative mobility solutions for vehicle and mobile communication through the MobilityXlab program.

From August this year, Minima will collaborate with other industry leaders in creating mobility solutions in vehicle-2-vehicle communication.

Minima will specifically demonstrate that a decentralized network of globally linked devices or cars can benefit from the security of layer 1 solutions where each of the devices acts as a participating node.

Using a decentralized network of connected cars will allow cars to become autonomous economic units with guaranteed data security. This will allow users to chat and communicate. Additionally, it will pave way for rewards and loyalty programs.

Commenting on their selection, the CEO of Minima, Hugo Feiler said:

“We’re thrilled to be part of the MobilityXlab program and can’t wait to demonstrate the benefits of a truly decentralized network for mobility more broadly, and vehicle-to-vehicle communication in particular. When each car is a fully sovereign, functional node on the network, communication between them becomes more secure and resilient which we believe to be crucial for any future that involves autonomous vehicles.”

What is MobilityXlab?

MobilityXlab was launched in 2017 and so far about eighty startups have joined and twelve commercial contracts/partnerships have been reached.

MobilityXlab closely works with world leaders in the field of mobility including CEVT, Polestar, Ericsson, Veoneer, Volvo Group & Zenseact, and Volvo Cars.

To be part of the program, a start-up is thoroughly screened and selected by at least two of its industry partners.

According to the Director at MobilityXlab, Katarina Brud:

“To keep up with the rapid pace of innovation and technology development, companies can’t rely on doing it on their own anymore. Our role is to foster access to a productive collaboration network for all parts involved.”

Secure vehicle-2-vehicle communication

The car industry is ever-changing from just owning cars to the car renting economy. Therefore, there is a need for the car industry to create value from cars through things like car rental, ride-sharing, and charging among others.

Minima is expected to provide the technology required to meet the growing need for an immutable and censorship-resistant network for the transfer of mission-critical data while also ensuring cheap vehicle-2-vehicle communication.
