American energy drinks giant Monster Beverage Corporation has filed four trademark applications pertaining to non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and metaverse-related industry.

Per the applications filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Monster Energy seeks to offer downloadable virtual goods in the form of beverages, food, supplements, sports, gaming, music, and apparel. The virtual goods will be earmarked as NFTs and will be used in “virtual environments and worlds.”

Another application looks to trademark retail stores and online retail store services that would offer virtual goods, blockchain tokens, NFTs, digital assets. The retail items will be authenticated by NFTs. The third application suggested the company’s plans to offer entertainment services in the form of “non-downloadable virtual beverages, food, supplements, bags, beverageware, coolers, clothing, headwear,” and more.

Lastly, the fourth filing revealed Monster Energy’s plans to provide an NFT marketplace that allows users to buy, sell, manage, and trade digital collectibles offered by the company. Per the application, the company filed for trademarks on February 18, 2022.

However, this is not the first time the company has engaged with the cryptocurrency sector. SmartFi, a cryptocurrency trading platform, became the first official cryptocurrency platform of Monster Energy AMA Supercross, a US-based motorcycle racing series.

There has been an influx of metaverse and NFT-related trademark filings from renowned brands and companies. McDonald’s, Victoria’s Secret, Puma, Nike, and Adidas have all filed similar applications to offer services in the nascent industry.
