Professional Tennis player Naomi Osaka has now joined athletes Tom Brady, Stephen Curry, and Shohei Ohtani to become the latest global ambassador of crypto exchange FTX.
Per the terms of the deal, Osaka has also acquired a portion of the stake at the popular exchange, along with additional compensation. With the latest partnership, the exchange plans to encourage more young women to enter the cryptocurrency space.
“We have seen the statistics about how few women are part of crypto by comparison, which kind of mirrors the inequality we see in other financial markets,” said Osaka. “Cryptocurrencies started with the goal of being accessible to everyone and breaking down barriers to entry.”
The press release revealed the company’s plans to create content surrounding Osaka with a focus on its global audience, given the athlete’s “Haitian and Japanese cultural heritage and background.” In addition, Osaka will wear the exchange’s logo in all the future competitions she may take part in.
Lastly, FTX will donate to Osaka’s charitable organizations Play Academy and Laureus Sport for Good, both of which focus on encouraging girls to enter sports.
