Invested by NTT Docomo Ventures

BLOCKSMITH & Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “BLOCKSMITH”) announced on the 22nd that NTT Docomo Ventures, Inc. has participated as a new investor in the angel round currently in progress.

BLOCKSMITH, which is also invested in by Takayama, an evangelist for CoinPost, a major Japanese crypto asset (virtual currency) media, is aiming for mass adoption of Web3 through collaboration with NTT Docomo Ventures. The main goal is to popularize blockchain services and expand them to a wider user base.

One of the projects the company is focusing on is the patent-pending “Facial Recognition Web3 Wallet,” and collaboration with the NTT Docomo Group is expected to further improve its convenience and security. We are also focusing on developing blockchain games.

The funds raised will be used for product development and research and development. BLOCKSMITH established AI Labo in April 2023 and is also focusing on developing related technologies.

BLOCKSMITH’s new service “QAQA”

The NTT Docomo Group is collaborating with various partners to advance efforts to accelerate the spread of Web3 and its implementation in society. Arima Kotake, director of NTT Docomo Ventures, commented on BLOCKSMITH as follows:

BLOCKSMITH’s new service QAQA can be easily started even by those without Web3 knowledge, and by answering quizzes related to hobbies and categories that users are interested in, users can aim for the top of the rankings and acquire rare and valuable NFTs. This is a service that you can get. We believe that by playing a lot, you can become popular in the community, and this becomes a motivation for users, making it a very unique service.

This is a service that has great potential for mass adoption of Web3, and we will continue to closely support it as we aim to develop the business.

“QAQA” is a user-submitted quiz video SNS where you can earn in-game currency “Chips” by asking and answering quizzes, and exchange them for the crypto asset “BLQS.” Currently, the alpha version of QAQA has been released for pre-play applicants, and only the basic functions of asking and answering quizzes are available. In the future, we plan to gradually add event functions, NFTs, the crypto asset “BLQS”, facial recognition Web3 wallet, etc.

What is Web3?

Web3 refers to a new internet vision that leverages blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and NFTs to transfer ownership to users. While Web1 is read-only and Web2 is readable and writable, Web3 is readable and writable. It offers innovative features to users, including extended ownership, censorship resistance, decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), digital identity, and native payments (financial autonomy).
