Only EHT to be withdrawn after Shanghai: Nansen | coindesk JAPAN | Coindesk Japan

A major upgrade to the Ethereum blockchain, “Shanghai,” also known as “Chapella,” will allow validators to withdraw the Ethereum (EHT) they have staked.

But according to blockchain analytics firm Nansen, the odds of Ethereum being pulled out seem slim. Ahead of Shanghai, about 4,000 validators are already waiting to withdraw 141,499 ETH (about $270 million).

That figure is less than 1% of staked ETH, according to Nansen. Cryptocurrency exchange Huobi has the most with around 40,000 ETH waiting for withdrawal.

Not all validators can withdraw at once, and there is a daily limit. “We can currently pull eight validators per epoch, which equates to about 1,800 per day,” Nansen data engineer Edgar Rootalu told CoinDesk.

“Shanghai” is scheduled for around 22:27 UTC on April 12 (07:27 Japan time on April 13).
