Mode, a modular layer 2 network, received up to 2 million OP tokens (worth about $5.5 million at current prices) in a grant from the Optimism Foundation. This is a measure to support Mode’s user growth incentives.

Mode is a blockchain network built using Optimism’s OP stack. A portion of the proceeds from its sequencers (nodes that organize transactions) will be returned to the Optimism Collective, which will join Law of Chains, an open neutrality framework designed to manage superchain networks. Currently in testnet, we plan to launch mainnet at the end of this month.

During the testnet phase, testnet ETH can be bridged from the Ethereum testnet, Sepolia, to the Mode testnet.

Optimism Collective is OP’s digital governance organization that rewards all participants in companies, communities, and networks for their contributions to the public good.

In addition, “Superchain” is a concept announced by the Optimism Foundation last year that will expand Ethereum to the “scale of the Internet” by creating a single ecosystem for all L2 and L3 blockchains using OP stack.

Mode’s position is to become a super chain DeFi hub. We will continue to develop open source tools for the superchain ecosystem and focus on bringing native yield, smart treasury, and on-chain AI agents to the network, as well as devoting resources to public goods. Then founder James Ross spoke.
